Braking in a Wet Curve Test

(ASTM) E1136, E1337-90

Conducted February 26, 2001

Test procedures and conditions:

  1. All stops made within 12 ft. (3.66 m) lane, with 500 ft. (152.4 m) radius curve, maximum pedal effort at 30 mph (48.3 km/h)

  2. Saturated asphalt surface with a friction coefficient of approximately 0.5

  3. Temperature: 34°F (1°C), Humidity: 70%, Barometric pressure: 29.05 (984 mb)

  4. Test was completed using a ten year old (1990) Kenworth M-400 truck with an unmodified OEM brake system. Therefore, burnishing was not needed.

Conclusion

In comparing the performance parameters required in a certified FMVSS 121 test, if anything, the MSQR-5000® anti-lock brake system was additionally handicapped, i.e.:

  1. 10-year old vehicle vs. new vehicle

  2. Tires with worn tread

  3. used, worn brake components

Therefore, it is intuitively obvious through this simulated FMVSS 121 test that the performance of the MSQR-5000® anti-lock brake system exceeds, hands down, all performance requirements stipulated by FMVSS 121.
